Okay - but then why do services like KSR (on RL Music) offer to change all the CMOS chips along with the Caps? I mean, I have had circuit failure happen, chips burn out over time. Not sure if its rot or just over-use. Luckily I have not had this happen on my CS-80 but I am concerned and worried about it. Anyone on the forum know what restoration really does? Or can one just do caps and tuning? Is there a mod to make tuning better, more stable, easier? --- In yamahacs80@yahoogroups.com, David <d2ba@...> wrote: > > No circuitry does not rot away --only caps do --most IC's will last a > lifetime as well as circuit boards > put it this way a CS-80 will outlast a human being --100 years from > now people will still be playing CS80's > David > On 8/01/2009, at 7:45 PM, galaxiesmerge wrote: > > > I agree - but to get that, one has to do a complete restoration, else > > the circuitry will simply rot away.
