Congrats on getting a CS50. I recently scored one, too. But mine only has one voice outputting audio. :( However, even with that one voice I can say that it is not normal for the output to be so low for so long. Mine starts making sound, with plenty of volume, within a few seconds of turning it on. I'm not a tech but my first thought is that perhaps your power supply is taking a long time for the proper voltages to stabilize.
