Source for Yamaha CS80 Sliders?

Source for Yamaha CS80 Sliders?

2008-11-24 by matrix

A fellow named Andrew sent me some picks of a custom CS80 controller he is
building. He's looking for CS80 style sliders. If anyone knows where to
find them, please let me know and I will forward it along to him. You can
see some images of it's construction here:

http://matrixsynth.blogspot.com/2008/11/birth-of-cs80-replica-controller.html

I also sent this to the SDIY list.

Hi David and everyone on this group,

I'ts me Anders (not Andrew..) who building a CS80 replica controller,
it is a crazy idea and my addiction to have a real one got to large
so i decided to do something. The project started this summer,
building from realy nothing, no drawings only from pictures
references and some measurements from the Yamaha manual. I'm in the
middle of the project right this moment, next step is to sceen print
the panel and thats my first time screen printing. Lot's of trial and
error on the way but it's very educating trying diffent methodes
(excuse my spelling, i'm from sweden) To get this up and running i
have an Ensoniq TS-10 synth for the polyphonic aftertouch, 2 Doepfer
USB-64 midi controller boards for slidepots to midi cc, a Doepfer RM2
ribbon controller and finally Arturias CS80V.
And know i trying to get slide caps(knobs) with all diffrent colour
like the original, maybe one idea to buy an Yamaha Electone organ to
get some slide caps.
The project is fully documented and when it's finished (if it's ever
going to be finished..) i'm going to post it up somewhere.

Anders

Damn. That is awesome. I wonder if he can make CS80 Top covers. I never had one, and I always wanted one for my CS80.

Very cool controller.

I would say that any upmarket Electone organ of about the same era has the same type of sliders. They can be had for next to nothing, and who knows, they might even have useful other spares inside...

The RM2 controller works just like a standard pitch bend with "zero"
in middle unfortunately, not like the original CS80 slider.

Hi
I can post an alternative: an italian handcrafter does a ribbon which has the zero-free option and its also z (aftertouch) sensitive; you can contact the guy at www.sknote.it ; it sells it for a fraction of the R2M cost and you could ask about a custom, longer version of the strip
;-)
