Tolex for a CS-80 case?

Tolex for a CS-80 case?

2011-02-14 by Leo Johns

Hi,

It's about time to re-Tolex my restored CS-80 here in Kansas.

Does anyone have a source - or a specification, thickness, manufacturer,
etc. - for black Tolex and the inside-case felt?

Pic set still at: http://www.chromaticsound.com/cs80.

Last year I tolexed a new enclosure I had made for an Arp 2600 (moldy, water damaged case). I used tolex and a special tolex glue I bought from mojotone.com
If you've never tolexed before, then practice first on a wooden board or box. Rip off the old tolex and use it as a pattern if you can. A bad tolex job just looks bad. Good luck!

As for tolex, you might want to try a custom car shop where they use tolex for roofs etc. on stuff like a Dodge Challenger or something.
