Hi all. I'm finishing up fixing an ill 4VS. I've got it pretty much working and added CV/Gate inputs to SEM 1-3. The last thing I need to do it clean some of the keyboard contacts. How the hell do you get the keyboard assembly out and get to the contacts????? I feel kind-of dumb, but there's got to be an easier way that disassembling the who thing! Thanks much, David

Hi Dave, You need to remove the screws underneath and sides of the case and lift the whole thing out and case then remove the keyboard.

Yes - it's the 6 screws on the bottom and the screws that hold the handles to the back. Then there's 6 screws in the metal bottom that hold down the keyboard assembly. Found something interesting - and badly designed - when I got in there. There's a circuit board that hold the keyboard scanning chips. It hangs upside-down from the metal from of the Pratt-Reed keyboard assembly. It was held on in four places with ... glue! Which, of course, after 30+ years, had lost its grip, leaving the board dangling by its wires :( A trip to the hardware store for some 5-minute epoxy, and it should be good for another 30 years!
