In The Dead Of Night

In The Dead Of Night

2006-01-26 by obwanz

Hi All,

Does anyone know perhaps how Eddie Jobson gets that sweeping, morphing
effect CS80 effect behind Allan Holdsworth's amazing guitar solo on In
The Dead Of Night? It almost sounds like it's being arppegiated, but
he's definately going back and forth between the 2 voices on the CS.
This has had me stumped for years. I almost think it could be a quirky
resonant hipass filter thing.

Thanks in advance,

Mark

Are you talking about the sequencer-ish sound at the end? It's also at
the beginning of 'By the Light of Day'. I remember reading an old
Keyboard Magazine interview with Eddie where he said it was some kind of
sequencer/synth that I never heard of. Anyone remember or have that issue?

No, I am specifically referring to the pad behind the Holsdworth
solo. It sounds like it morphs between 2 voices on the CS with the
Mix slider.

Best,

Mark
