Not true: it depends on your synth architecture:

Mine is a Virtual Modular: I can process my samples in real-time with all
manners of Filters, Envelopes, etc...

AMong the filters I have are the following: 4-POLE LOWPASS with Resonance,
2-POLE LOWPASS with Resonance, 1-Pole LOWPASS, BANDPASS, HIGHPASS, etc...

I can even arrange some of them in Series and/or parallel.

I have many more functions I can choose from to build my synth architecture.
In fact, I can build my own synth architecture first (to a certain extent)
then build sounds from it.

I have a Kurzweil K2500XS + KDFX. It's based on DSP.
