if anything is cycling, CPU can't be dead.
I'd search for broken traces. It's delicate device,
so any hit into switch knobs might break the PCB.
It happened to me.
Check transistors Q 403-Q410 on switch board
if they are pulsed, and if CPU pins 33-34 see
pulses in variuos mode switch positions.
If you see no pulses there, trace the signal
untill you find where it gets lost. May be
faulty transistor or broken wire etc.
