i think it's pretty unlikely that it's a faceplate wiring problem,
though it is worth checking. the connections in question are 8-pin (i
think) molex, near the edges of the pcb...

i seriously recommend trying to reload the firmware... trying it
several times, in fact. just because the LED's are unresponsive
doesn't mean it's not reading the RE switch on power-up.

try it:
- power down the system
- in sert the 250e firmware card, label facing up
- power up while holding down the 250e remote enable switch
- and give it a good 10 minutes. if it's working you should see the
blue LED on your 292e flickering brightly.

i don't understand what you're trying to show me with that photograph.
it seems to be a picture of the JTAG debugger connection to the MCU,
it shouldn't be connected to anything unless i'm reprogramming the
module.

man this blows I

ok, here's an alternate plan... give me your shipping address and i'll
send you my own 250e... meanwhile send yours to me in los angeles, NOT
to don:

1515 bates place
claremont CA 91711
USA

this is after double-checking the firmware loading, of course.

it'd be cool if you could arrange to pay for the shipping... if you
send it to don for service, he'll pay for his half, but you may wait
for months.
