I am contemplating losing a Twisted 259e in favour of a Complex 259e, 261e, or
possibly something else interesting. For logistical reasons, a European trade
would be preferred, if you wish to suggest a possible trade, please write to me
privately.
Cheers!

I'd guess that would only be a problem if you have no preset manager or you have to have the silk screening on the front panel un-revised. The graphics are the only revision not covered in the software update, functionally the hardware involved with either 259e is the same. Nick

http://www.flickr.com/photos/adeneko/4104392231/ the new one has two new LEDs, one on each osc, and no longer displays bus assignment with the LED trio near remote enable... i believe that i have been told that the new hardware does not run the old firmware properly. btw, i took a proper 259e TWG photo in my studio for inclusion in modular planners and the Buchla website to replace the older one in my flickr. http://www.silentspring.net/pix/259eTWG.jpg <%20http://www.silentspring.net/pix/259eTWG.jpg> michael barber --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, damon <damon@...> wrote: > > http://www.flickr.com/photos/adeneko/4104392231/ > > the new one has two new LEDs, one on each osc, and no longer displays bus assignment with the LED trio near remote enable... > > i believe that i have been told that the new hardware does not run the old firmware properly. > > > On Jul 11, 2010, at 1:17 AM, nicholas_kent wrote: > > > > > > > --- In 200e@yahoogroups.com, Rash Rahim rashemirashim@ wrote: > > > > > > I am contemplating losing a Twisted 259e in favour of a Complex 259e, 261e, or > > > possibly something else interesting. Lovely photo there Michael. And thanks to all for the input and clarification. Call me a hopeless nostalgic fool, I would still entertain a trade towards a non Twisted 259e - if anybody out there has a Complex one and fancies adding a Twisted instead, you can write to my anytime. Cheers. ________________________________

--- Zu 200e@yahoogroups.com, jon schatz <jon@...> hat schreiben innerhalb anderer: "> the only advantage of the old software is direct access to the top banks but you can find those in the twisted software by scanning bank c." to which I'd like to add: it takes quite a bit of fiddling to find those precise offsets. when scanning the memories, the red and green sides still act differently from each other. the green transforms a sine, the red a ramp (sawtooth). so even lined up to exactly the same address offset in memory, the two sides sound differently. [I was trying to keep the red/green subjective differences somehow. but now: green side sounds as the red one did in the notwist vers!] Which I wonder if anyone has done (twice the fiddling) and noted. Perhaps even without using similar areas in the memory, the difference might be apparent now that you know where to look: different style of spectral evolution with 'warp' also who's gotten into slight (meaning significantly/somewhat smaller than address range scanned by driving function) deviations between red and green memory offsets? overlapping tables basically.
