Buchla 252e and 285e

Buchla 252e and 285e

2011-04-24 by arthur_p20012001

I am considering adding one of the above to my powered cabinet. Does anyone have any experiences to share about the Quad Sequential Voltage Source and the Frequency Shifter/Balanced Modulator? I'm sort of tending towards the 285e. Thanks!

I've not heard, tried or seen the 252e but I love the 285e -- it can go from the most delicate and subtle RM and FM to the very dramatic -- it is smooth and extremely
responsive. Of course, it depends on what style of sounds/music you want to do
whether the 252e or 285e is best for you. You can't lose methinks. best, Todd

Todd,
Thanks for your input. I appreciate getting it from a seasoned user. I mainly do "very disturbing noise" according to my wife, but I think of it as a kind of sound sculpting.
                                                  Best Regards, Arthur

I'm not a seasoned user yet, but the 18 rack I use has a balanced modulator on it. If you're into ring modulation than that module is the pinnacle of it.
