indeed ;)
especially, since it hit *every* patch. I don't know exactly which patch
used the ribbon at all, but usually there is something assigned to it. I
flipped through the 40 or so presets (not factory, have some commercial
stuff in there), and tried the ribbon, and nothing happened. Yesterday I
made a quick check (took the synth with me again, usually it's in the
jamroom), and assigned to the patch I use with ribbon some filter
parameters, i.e. Ribbon-X -> VCF_cut, and it sounded somewhat like it used
to. But not really, before it was the way, that the sound was reset to some
default when I took the finger away from the ribbon, now the sound also gets
"reset", but to a different (low filter setting) sound :( It seems, just
changing the Ribbon-X and Ribbon-Z doesn't give me the same results than
before. Seems I gotta check out that backup I gladly made *before* I started
fumbling (as I always do, I work in IT and I *know* that bad things happen
;))

More thoughts on the matter:

1) Since you have a back-up of your Voices (good for you!) you
could reinitialize the unit and hope that clears the problem. Hold
down '7', '8', & '9' while powering up - then choose 9 for ALL (or 8
for SYSTEM only.) Ssee page 100 of the manual for more info.

2) It *might* be a physical problem with the Ribbon Controller
connection. Elson, and a few other users, had problems with the
Ribbon Controller - he popped open the case and found the
connection was not secure. Voila! Problem fixed - his write up is
in the Files section under Tips&Tricks
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AN1x-list/files

3) Maybe the problem is the result of a bug?! But from your first
post it doesn't sound as though you could easily recreate the
steps you followed when the problem first appeared.

Hope this helps,

Jon
