high frequency eq

high frequency eq

2002-07-05 by spaceanimals

I've read several reviews of the AN1X that complained about the
glassiness and the lack of warmth with the AN1X. Now with any analog
type synth you can get ear piercing highs, but the AN1X can really
pump the high frequencies. One thing I noticed the other day is the
eq is not bypassed when all the effects are bypassed. Checking the
eq, I have found presets where the eq boosts the high end (around 10
khz) by 2 or 3 decibels. I set the high eq to about 6.5khz. I cut it
by 8 decibels. I set the filter tracking to a negative value. That
usually tames the sound.

RE: [AN1x] high frequency eq

2002-07-08 by Mikko Sundman

Hello!

I have noticed similar problems from my AN-200, purchased very recently.
I also feel that it might be sounding a bit muddy, like D/A converters would
be worse quality, but I dont really have a change to do a honest compairing.
Anyway, sound is quite digital, it is lacking some analog softness, even
sine sounds a bit sharp.

I have a Waldorf 4-pole filter, I use via AUX to soften AN-200 sharpness.
I dont use cutoff, I just direct part of AN-200 sound via Waldorf, to fatten
and soften it up.
