Is there a way to adapt a breath controller for the AN1X? Has anyone
tried this? I would think breath controlled analog would be very cool.

The Breath Controller is pretty much like a volume pedal in terms of electronics, with two very notable exceptions: It requires power from the cable, and it isn't very "linear" in response, requiring conversion of its data into a format that other devices expect.

MIDI Solutions sells a Breath-to-MIDI adapter that works with the Yamaha BC-series. It's kind of pricey, though. If you're interested, contact me offline for details and price.

There also used to be a Yamaha knobs-and-inputs box (similar to the Peavey PC-1600X) that had a BC input among its inputs. I used to own one back in the '80s, but I can't remember it's model number -- something like "YC-10" or similar. There may be other inline devices out there with support for BC.

I use a Yamaha BC3 and I have an Anatek Wind Machine to convert the
data to MIDI. It works fine. I use it very little but I have thought
of doing more with it. I think it sounds good with subtle flucutation
in the filter cutoff or osc sync. I just hate to put too much
variability into it, becaus I run out of breath so often.

Cheers,

Jerry
