battery info for an1x??

battery info for an1x??

2005-01-25 by Nick Zuccaro

hello, although i'm not getting a low battery warning i suspect my
battery's dying, does anybody have any info on what battery is used??
if you can give me a voltage and a current rating that would be good,
or a replacement part number?? i hear it's a soldered-in type of
battery so i'd like to replace it with another type that's a little
easier to change, one guy told me that he puts the solder-type
batteries on 4" leads so you can just unsolder the leads which is way
easier to do. please email me back at nmz77@... thanks!

I haven't yet had the need for checking the battery inside my AN1x, but
if it's really soldered in battery, I probably personally would
solder/mod battery holder in place after looking which kind of battery
it requires. Those holders shouldn't cost much if you look for
electronics shop. Afterwards it would be just swapping the battery
without need of soldering.

You know, that 's a real good question - we've discussed this on the list in the past but I
don't recall anybody ever poste the spec's (the battery is not identified by type in the
Owner's Manual.)

Off the top of my head, I'd guess that Ed might know - otherwise check the list archive.
There are some photo's and write up's for opening the AN1x case (it's not difficult) in the
Files section here at Yahoo! Groups which may be of help to you.

I haven't had mine open in a while, Jon, but here's the link to the photo on the
list page.

The silver disk in the top center is the battery. It's a very common one, IIRC,
and I think that it's in a socket, not soldered in. It won't take much to find
out... there's about 20 screws or so that hold the bottom on... once you remove
it the battery is very obvious.
