I've succeeded so far in not "touting my own stuff", but, just as an example, if you bought an Atmel AVR Dragon you'd have ISP and High Voltage programming plus both JTAG and debugWIRE debugging. Mate it with (here I go) a Dragon Rider and you can pick and choose among quite a few target devices, including the ATmega88 mentioned earlier. This would only cost you a few bucks more, depending on how you count postage. This is just an example. Brian Dean has good stuff at BDMicro, too, and there's also Smiley Micros, all friends of this and other AVR-based discussion groups. I may be misunderstanding, but I don't see how the myAVR is a cost-effective starting point for you. (Boy I hope the people at myAVR aren't in this group.) Graham.
