Studio5 has been the subject of extended discussion on the AVRFreaks web site. 

It has the potential for being pretty good, but there are currently many problems. These problems do seem to be repaired over time, but it  is awfully slow and does NOT give me great confidence. This is somewhat bolstered by the apparent plan to continue updating the version of AVRgcc (to support new devices) in a way that works with Studio4.
