Hi Sania It all rather depends on quite a few factors... Can you tell us a bit more about what you want to be able to do and what operating system you use? An idea about your experience would probably help as well. --greg --- In AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com, sania safdar <see_wide_sea@...> wrote:

This is total rubbish. Studio is fine for programming. Avoid Studio5 and it works very nicely. You WILL need a programming device, such as a Dragon, but that works very well with Studio, Jim Wagner Oregon Research Electronics On Jan 21, 2012, at 1:09 AM, hamidreza maddah wrote: > > > Avrstudio is not good for programming. i use it for simulate > > --- On Fri, 1/20/12, sania safdar <see_wide_sea@yahoo.com> wrote: > > From: sania safdar <see_wide_sea@yahoo.com> > Subject: [AVR-Chat] (unknown) > To: "AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com" <AVR-Chat@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Friday, January 20, 2012, 12:35 AM > > > > kindly some one quide me about atmega88 programing in Avrstudio enviroment > > > > Best Regards > > Sania Safdar > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

Jim, I am a hobbyist. Been using Studio 4. Upgraded to Studio 5. I was so disappointed in 5, that I decided 4 wasn't broken and went back to Studio 4. Any idea what the deal with AVR and Studio 5 ? I hope this is not the future. Bruce On 1/21/2012 11:12 AM, Jim Wagner wrote: > This is total rubbish. Studio is fine for programming. Studio5 has been the subject of extended discussion on the AVRFreaks web site. It has the potential for being pretty good, but there are currently many problems. These problems do seem to be repaired over time, but it is awfully slow and does NOT give me great confidence. This is somewhat bolstered by the apparent plan to continue updating the version of AVRgcc (to support new devices) in a way that works with Studio4. The problem is that studio 4 doesn't support TPI programming, but studio 5 does. Updating gcc is fine, but can we get a firmware upgrade for programming platforms like stk500 to support TPI? Studio 5 isn't quite easy to use as 4, but eventually it worked for me. It appears to me like they intended studio5 to replace studio 4 and were going to move on. But we have digressed from the original topic. Did the 88 get programmed? no, to do ISP use an AVR programmer with an ISP (6 pin) cable and header setup. studio 4 should work fine to write, compile, simulate and program the 88. rep
