You all are going to keep it up and we're going to be accused of being inhospitable to newbies suffering from DNS syndrome again. Just copy your CodeVision manual, convert to a pdf file, and send it to the poor kid...all at your own expense...for software you've bought yourself. He can't afford to buy the software. How can he afford a manual? Oh heck, it's Christmas. Maybe the folks over at CodeVision will give him a manual. Isn't it funny how someone will take a whole 'nuther attitude when they have their own software, firmware, or hardware designs, their personal work product, stolen? But that's different... Well, even on christmas, don't feed the trolls! Honestly, it would probably be best to let inquiries like this receive no reply.

Why is that? > Maybe they're in their '70s or '80s now. I remember well anno '77 when I started to play around with microcontrollers (Z80 then). Being a pupil with lots of time and virtually no money (worked thru the holidays in a cheese factory to buy my first oscilloscope then ;-) I also was after every bit of hard- and software I could get. I have to confess that I never bought a copy of CP/M but somehow it found its way to my floppy disks (as soon as I was able to afford a floppy drive). I had to write my own BIOS (cause the machine was built by hand after schematics from a commercial system which I never would have be able to buy. Hey, you can still see this system on my web pages (http://www.geocities.com/_wsw_/wswcpm.html)). If at this time there would have been something like today's internet (and not only this "conspirative" BBSes of that time ;-) I'm sure I would have asked the one or other similar question like we see flooding the newsgroups and mailing lists now. And for their "style" of asking (and showing no sensibility about intellectual property): Maybe it has to do with growing up in an area of political instability and even war and terror. Let the middle east come to a rest, let them write their first programs and see how they get stolen by others and I'm sure their mind will change... But maybe I'm totally wrong either.... I hope you all had some calm days with the ones you love and are looking forward to a prosperitive 2008! Seasons Greetings from Berlin, Germany Stefan

Next look for a copy of the GNU Compiler: first for you PC to learn and practise C and later the cross compiler for the AVR. After you're fit with C and the concept of structured programming (even and especially in C) get the datasheets from www.atmel.com and try to read and understand them. If you then have AVR specific problems with your C code, you're very welcome to come back and ask...
