I have a FCB1010 and a VF-1. They work together rather well. The FCB is very robust and extremely versatile as a midi controller but I second that it is quite complex to setup. I have my favorites patches mapped on the 10 switches, 1 expression pedal for the volume and the other one for the WHA effect. Dont ask me how I did this, I dont even remember ( I am in no way a midi guru and did the setup almost 1 year ago). All I can say is that it can be done and it is pretty cool.
