VF-1: RSS MIDI-controlled

Does anyone know how to set up the VF-1 RSS patch (U-B15) to respond with a L-R pan from a data slider(Controller #7)? I've tried every config I can think of on the L/R azimuth parameters. The stupid signal just jumps to a hard position and stays there when I move the slider. Thanks! RD
