New patches are finally here.

New patches are finally here.

2012-01-13 by cliffe123

This is now called cliffs NEWEST. Original called cliffs FINAL4 but with lots of added sound replacing the old ones. I decided to put this special one on mediafire mainly for the downloading counts. It's called cliffs NEWEST and the link is: http://www.mediafire.com/?pn4pdu6mocff1dn

Feel free to share them all over. Enjoy.

Your message about sending your sound file came before my message
asking it :-)

That's nice of you, thanks. Unfortunately I sold my VZ1 and VZ10m
years ago and can't enjoy it. Maybe parameter list would be good for
analysis and maybe some attempts to emulate your sounds on CZ series
(recently I still have CZ3000) but it's too much work to write it down.

Never mind, somebody could use it.

Sorry to hear that, well I guess most people are not too happy with there old synths thease days. Im just the opposite since im not too happy with my newer synth which I hardly ever play other than my vz I had for over 20 years. I know one thing the CZ's are still good but only good in there own ways of making sounds. Sad thing I don't know too much about them though but I do wish you luck on your cz3000 whatever it has to offer.

I'm happy with any synthesizer, as I'm collector to some degree, if
only I could keep all I have bought in the past, there were
hundreds... but sometimes unfortunately had to sell something to get
money and space for some other machines. But I regretted many times I
had to do this... CZ/VZ series has some features the other machines
hasn't and can produce interesting and quite usable sounds.

I think any synth - be it old or new - can serve well if we know how
to use its best and the most typical features. It has no sense to
expect good piano sound from DX7, or aggressive sound from Korg
Wavestation or Kawai K5000, or pipe organ from Korg MS2000... What I
like most of all is to combine different types of sound synthesis in
my numerous hardware synths. Each of them has some strong and weak
points, but together they create a huge supersynth with lot of
possibilities. Recently i have about 70 instruments in my studio...

Hi everybody,

I have a Casio VZ-10M since 1996...never parted with! It has some amazing timbres...especially bell like tones, or electric clunky electric pianos...very nice for ethereal sounds, film music, etc.

Re: [CZ-VZ-Files] Re: New patches are finally here.

2012-01-13 by Daniel Forró

Hi, Jan,

it's published on my web pages at

www.soundclick.com/forrotronics

where it's possible to hear my music as well.

I like all of them :-), but most favorite and most used in my studio are:

Yamaha: 2x VL1, 2x VL1m, SY99, 2x EX5, FS1r, MU128 V2, PSR9000 Pro, Clavinova P500, DX7, DX7 II D, TX802, TX81z, TX816, TX416, TG77, TG500, RM50, TG33
Korg: Wavestation, Wavestation AD, 2x Prophecy, MS2000, PA80, CX3 V2, EX800, ER1, KaosPad 1
Roland: V-piano, Jupiter 6, JD800, 2x JD990, MKS70
Kawai: K5000W, K3
Novation: Supernova
Oberheim: Matrix 6r
Casio: CZ3000
EMU: Ultraproteus, E4X
Technics: WSA1r
Akai: S3000XL

Less used are:
Yamaha: 2x TX16W, CS15D, 2x CS40m, CS80, SY1, WT11, rhythmer RX5, organ YC45D, SK20 and B30R, electro-acoustic piano CP80
Korg: Sigma, X911
Roland: SH2000, TR808
Elka: Synthex
PPG: Wave 2.2
Hammond: tonewheel organ CV (1945), M3 (1960), LSI organ Commodore (1985)
ARP: Pro DGX
Moog: Multimoog
Kurzweil: K250
Casio: MT65
MFB: 512

Main reason is I haven't so much space in my studio and these instruments are in different rooms. When I need them for recording, I can bring them (with the exception of heavy Hammond and Yamaha organ, huge CS80 synth, and piano CP80 which I have upstairs in our house).

I like also other instruments - my Yamaha guitars SG500B, FGXB1, two custom six strings K+K bass guitars (fretted and fretless), fretted one with MIDI pickup and Yamaha G50 converter, also MIDI guitars Casio DG7 and Yamaha G10m, MIDI saxophone WX5 and my Japanese koto, shakuhachi and shamisen.

I had much more instruments in my Museum of EA instruments, but sold them before my moving to Japan. Some of them were bought by Vienna Technical Museum and are on exhibition there. I had some very rare old instruments in my collection. So my actual equipment is just rest of it, only few pieces were bought in Japan.

P.S.: Your name looks like Czech, am I right? :-)

Same here, I bought my VZ-1 Brand spanking new from Sam Ash on 48th st NYC in 1987
Cost $449. I still have it to this day and it still works fine!! It will go with me in my coffin.

Wow...surprised the VZ-1 cost so little...I remember blowing about $300 on a slightly used CZ-1000 around '86. I would have saved for the VZ-1 had I known!! Of course I would have been daunted by the programming at the time. I now own a VZ-10 and a CZ-1, and though I eventually got my noggin' around the VZ, the CZ line is pie to program in comparison.

Response to VZ ownership

2012-03-09 by doug_francis@bd.com

Vzers;

I am very happy to have picked up a used VZ-1 almost nine years ago, love it more and more as I delve deeper into it and utilize the patches that the users here have posted through the years. I enjoy this synth so much that I had to pick up a NOS VZ-8M I found on craigslist from a guy who used to be a music store owner who bought it brand new and stashed it away for his home studio that he never built. Brand new, still in the original packaging, now serving duty as poly expansion for my VZ-1 and companion tones on it's own. Love the wind controller programs on the VZ-8M and using them with my Doepfer R2M ribbon contoller, such fun.

My VZ-1 came to me with it's plastic endcaps in four or five pieces but the rest of this tank was sweet so I fabricated some beefy mahogany endcaps to replace the damaged pieces. Some might say that they dont care for the wood on a digital synth and I might re-sculpt them at a later date but now they feel right when using the control wheels and pitch bend on the left. My VZ-1 is the one pictured in the photos section. Thank you to everybody who has contributed to the files section and general passing of knowledge on their love for Casio professional VZ series synths over the years.

I look forward to many more happy years with my big black beauty. :-)
