I assume you are talking about step-time [aka manual] note entry. So far as I can tell from the manual and the CZ-5000, the keyboard inputs the notes with the duration determined by the buttons. The key press enters note; the key release stores the notes and gets set up for the next note. So, if you select 1/8 notes and play the keyboard, you enter 1/8 notes for whatever you play. With your unit [no keyboard] I hope an external midi device can be used. I hope this helps. --Dr. Steve PS: Key presses are also used to edit pitches of previously created sequences on the CZ-5000.
