In Casio's "Guidebook for MIDI (Nov. 1985)" there are some references 
to the SZ-1.  I know I have seen this manual on line at one of the 
Casio sites.

There are several drawings of sample midi setups with the SZ-1.  Just 
basic stuff.  Evidently the SZ-1 has a switch to change the clock 
from internal to external.

PP. 39-40 have the sysex protocol for requesting and trasnmiting CZ-
5000 sequencer data.  The manual does not say whether or not this is 
the same for the SZ-1.
