Most of the big names in the 80's used the more expensive analog synths as far as I know. Oberheims and Moogs and such, and DX7s when they used digitals. Probably someone somewhere used a Casio but it's hard to track this kind of information down. Though supposedly Casio built this huge Synclavier-like thing for Tomita as a prototype for something they were planning to market. They figured no one would buy it like that so they split it up into the CZ series synths, the RZ-1 drum machine, and the SZ-1 sequencer.
