PS: Just some additional thoughts:
(1) Take the VZ to a music store, ask them if you can hook it up to 
one of their keyboards to hear the sounds. (You may want to call 
first.)
(2) Ask someone locally to bring over a keyboard (and midi cables, if 
you don't have them).

I know, these probably occurred to you, but I had to mention them 
just in case.
