Also, how "good" is to have a synth with 8 bit D/A >converters.... I've never had a K1 so I'm just theorizing- but I think it's the waveforms in ROM which are 8-bit, not the DAC. That would just sound too raw, with lots of quantization noise. (actually some things do have 8-bit DACs, but other factors improve the sound quality- the ESQ-1 has filters, the Fairlight CMI has a DAC for each voice, etc.) >(btw: nobody could answer my question about the D/A converter bit depth >in Casio CZ-1 ????) guess not, I'd be very interested to hear that too.. >And how special is the sound ? Especially for techno, dnb, break, hip-hop >and >before all AMBIENT music ... I've heard it sounds good- the lack of a filter limits it a lot, but stacking 4 oscillators per voice gives a lot of depth and motion. It should also be noted that the K-1 II is a lot different from the K-1: http://homepage.mac.com/synth_seal/html/gmega.html _________________________________________________________________ Watch the online reality show Mixed Messages with a friend and enter to win a trip to NY http://www.msnmessenger-download.click-url.com/go/onm00200497ave/direct/01/
