I have heard that the "game ports" may have issues with complex MIDI stuff. For instance, on my older computer I was not able to MTC sync using the game port, once I got a dedicated MIDI interface it all worked. Ebay is a good suggestion... I scored a PC MIDI Flyer (older parallel port interface from MOTU) for $15 shipping included!
