I think its because the earlier CZs were rather revolutiony, competitively priced, popular with consumers and software and patch designers, etc. Also, at the time, there were some cracker-jack product support [marketing] people in the US who really promoted people getting onto the CZ bandwagon. I think it was an assumption I made decades ago and never really thought it out or tested it. I never owned a CZ-101, though I played several--friends' and in stores.
