Re: CZ-1 sysex I just got out my CZ-1 sysex manual and realize perhaps it was never published. I have one that I got from Casio Product Support decades ago. It is a photo copy and has Japanese written on it. I always assumed this was an advanced copy that was undergoing proofreading for final publication. I can't believe I am the only one who has this document. It is set in the same type as the Nov. 1985 CZ MIDI Guide. (I thought I shared some of the contents from this over the years.) Anyhow, send request 3 gets you the op-mems: F0 44 00 00 7n 12 dd . . . F7 (following the same handshaking protocol for earlier CZs -- CZ ack/reply/F7) Of course, to send the opmem data, the 6th byte is 22 (Same pattern for Casio CZ send/receive requests.) Sorry you had to spend time trying to figure it all out. I believe the CZ-1 also has some sysex commands not in prior CZs. I will have to do a comparison to tell you which. In case you haven't figured it out, you can switch CZ-1 modes via sysex. Here's the command: F0 44 00 00 7n 4D dd F7 where dd is as follows: Normal mode - 00h Tone mix mode - 20h Key split mode - 40h Op-Mem - 60h You can move the cursor via sysex, select menu pages, turn multi- mode on and off, choose the number of poly, set the pitch of tone 2 (tone mix mode), set the split point, enable and disable the sustain pedal, turn chorus on and off, and a couple of other things. Perhaps the reason why the folks at Midiquest said the sysex was sketchy was because they didn't have the sysex manual. Do you still need the layout of the Op-Mem data formats for the 3 modes? --Steve
