Casio CZ-The finest virtual "Minimoog"

2007-05-29 by M.J.B.

I have played what seems to be every minimoog VA,
demo'd most of the modern hardare virtual
analogs, tried every thing that claims to sound
like a mini and everyone I turn off, shut down,
delete off my computer.

Nothing, I mean nothing in my opinion nails the
MINIMOOG like the casio cz. WHY IN THE WORLD IS
THIS? I don't care if the dco's/DCF's DCA's/
were not modeled on the the original like every
other crappy moog VA manufacture says. It is
unexplainable-but I know what my ears want-and
when I make a moog bass on the cz, I'm there.
No, it is NO minimoog but it gives you a MINI
feeling-bubbling with personality.

I'm wondering if anyone has studied the waveforms
of the CZ and the resulting frequencies-an
anaylsis I would like to do is to figure out what
makes the casio cz sound so organic, less
digital, could i say-more analog?

I'm honing my abilites crafting mini's basses. I
usally use three tracks of casio cz layered
together and eq'd a bit. I'm very pleased with
the results.

I've read that the original casio team modeled
the cz on the moog but I've always wanted to
dismiss that as mere legend. Yet, I always keep
coming back to it.
