i'm not an engineer, but my vote is use the built-in chorus if it does
what you need, otherwise run the CZ through outboard effects. if you've
never run a CZ through a quadraverb or SE-50 (or just about any other used
multi-effects box for <50$), you're missing half the fun.

re-writing the OS is beyond what i would take on, but i would say the best
"return on investment" for anyone who wants to do that would be a new OS
for the CZ-101 that adds velocity control and real-time programming of all
parameters using midi CCs. do that, and a patch-dump is just sending a
bunch of CCs, which means more patch memory isn't a priority...
if someone did that, i'd sell my (big, huge, heavy) CZ-1 in a second and
grab a 101. it's been a while since i've opened one up... are the circuit
boards in a 101 small enough that it can be rack-mounted?
