As soon as I got home after writing the message asking for help a penny dropped and I realised the thing about editing in Normal/Combi mode instead of Op Mem. Now just have to conquer the editing bit. I paid £99 for a good condition (but dull LCD) VZ-10m but the average is about £140 up to 162 on a good day!
