In terms of self morphing? I think I have and one example can be found in cliffs set-1, Op Mem A-3. This is generally a two patched voice opmem. For this I used mod wheel 1 and inside of it the A ENV BIAS should be turned ON. The single patch in normal mode to work for the op mem, example MENU1, VALUE 14 of AMP SENS, and SENSITIVITY=7 for M1 or modual-1 for that particular mod wheel tweeking. Another cool affect you can also try and this is just on the normal patch itself, patch name called HILLAGE LIKE on voice D-6 in cliffs set-2. Play any keys without taking ur fingers off or sort of glide through the keys and you'll notice that sweeping effect. (without the use of a mod wheel) Anyway study them and see what you can incorperate them with. Hope i've answered all your questions......... --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "steve_the_composer" <smw-mail@...> wrote: > > Cliff and others, let me pick your brains on VZ patch editing ideas. I have recently been looking into the idea of doing long form performances and have been reeaxmining my VZ-8m patches/op-mems (from the early 1990s, I think) and tweaking them. However, I suspect there are VZ programming ideas that others have played with (or that you might want to play with) which would lend themselves to long form perfomance. > > I have in mind the following criteria): > (1) single patches [combinable into op-mem](with up to 8 VZ modules per patch) > (2) that slowly change (such as timbre) over a long period of time and > (3) which can be altered in realtime (CCs) > > Towards this end, I have tweaked some of my old patches to add CC control. For example, one patch previously used the standard mod wheel CC to take a smooth tone and morph it into a rhythmic patch (amp modulation controlling the sound). To this I added a definable CC that now varies the frequencing of the "lfo." I have done simliar things with other effects. > > However, I have not yet tackled the long, sonically self-morphing, sustained type of patch. Have you? Could you? Do you have any programming ideas for this sort of thing? Also, if you have any patches that do this kind of thing, can you share them so I can take them apart to see how they are contructed? Anyway just I couldn't seem to master the technique of how wendy does hers to make them a real gamelan sounds. Anyway I think you or anybody might be interested in hearing the new mp3 VZ ethno demo at: http://www.cosmosynth.userpage.de/ Scrul down untill you see Ethno soundset for the VZ. This should be worth hearing worth hearing. >
