Re: [CZsynth] Problems with sending patches to computer

2010-07-25 by Lee Borrell

If your 101 is saying MIDI full - that tends to suggest it is receiving data - which tends to suggest you have both cables plugged into the 101 - if there is a SOFT midi thru on soundlib then the dump from the 101 will be sent directly back to the 101 and it will think a dump is incoming.

It is usually suggested to connect BOTH cables to the CZ for handshaking purposes - however I am using MIDI-ox (free online) and using the handshake work-around that is supplied on my own page:

http://templarseries.atspace.com/cz.html

under SYSmanual/SYSXinfo - using the info there - I have no trouble with CZ dumps - using MIDI ox - I cannot tell you what SOUNDlib might or might not do - but if you wish to try it- see what happens if you only have the outgoing cable connected to the PC when dumping from the CZ - if it fails to handshake and dump - then you may require the info above and try MIDI-ox.

Hi,

I bought a Casio CZ-101. What a great synth! I really like the sound. However, unfortunately I cannot send the patches I've made to computer. I'm sure I have connected everything correctly. I'm using M-Audio Midisport USB/MIDI-interface. I've tried the free Soundlib program. When I try to send my patches to computer, the sending stops after a few patches and the Casio displays something like "MIDI FULL ERROR" and switches to some patch.

I'm now wondering if there is something wrong with my CZ-101 or if it could be that the Midisport interface is somehow incompatible with the Soundlib program or something. I searched the archives and there was something that Soundlib (or some other similar program) simply works with some Casio CZ's and with some it doesn't.

Is there any freeware program that would let me do bulk dumps of patches easily?

Please help if you know anything about this - I would greatly appreciate it.

Antti
