It doesn't sound like its almost working normal at all, in fact it sounds like the relay did nothing to change the volume, and I don't see why it would. I think you got some bad advice there. I'd look for a bad op-amp or amp chip, or a cap next to an op-amp or amp chip. --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, "marcgoemans" <beengeleiding@...> wrote: > > first off all, I want to thank the two of you for your speedy reply. > I followed all of your instructions with a big smile. > > I ordered a relay (the NTE R40-11D2-5/6 2A 5~6VDC DPDT Security Relay, unfortunately NOT the one you suggested, but another one suggested here on the site). > > Opened the baby up, put the new relay in. I turned the internal pot meter clockwise and I would almost think that it is working correctly. So it started to sound even louder. The relay in the CZ is an Omron G2VN 237PL 5VDC. Omron doesn't make this anymore, but there is a suitable replacement (G5V-2-DC5). You can buy it at Mouser.com or Digikey etc. http://parts.digikey.com/1/parts/756919-relay-dpdt-2a-5v-50-ohm-coil-g5v-2-dc5.html. No need to pay a tech for this repair job - it's a very easy fix - find a friend who can solder if you can't do it yourself (or use this as a chance to get your feet wet). > > > > Removing the CZ-1 cover (maybe obvious, but why not...): > > While I'm at it, just a note on how to remove the cover (there are a lot of screws and it took me a few guesses to figure out which to remove (yeah, I'm an idiot). First remove the 3 screws on the bottom sides of the CZ-1 (actually, one of these screws on each side is on the back since the piece is L shaped). Then just remove the Four screws on the ledge under the Casio logo on the back. The top piece will then just lift off. > > > > --- In CZsynth@yahoogroups.com, Marc Goemans LL.M. <beengeleiding@> wrote: > > > > > > Relay > > > > > > > > > > > > I did more research on your suggestion of checking the relay.
