Hmmm, maybe check the After Touch Range?  See page 18 at least as numbered
in the manual at
http://www.synthzone.com/midi/casio/cz1/CZ1%20USER%20MANUAL.pdf    Perhaps
the range is set to 00 on the sound(s) in question, so no response on the
synth but the midi data is still valid.
