RE: [CZsynth] CZ Bank Dump

2011-07-26 by Alfons Martinez

Hello Mike:

I have a CZ5000 and some time ago I tried to do the same, with no success.

Thanks to the good and detailed help from several people in the group, I
managed to send sysex messages (with Midi-Ox) for dumping each patch
(message F0 44 00 00 70 10 XX 70 31 F7, where XX is the patch number, range
20-3F).

The sysex obtained from that dump cannot be directly re-sent to the CZ5000
to re-load the patch. It is necessary to change the value of the fifth hex
value (from 30 to 20 XX, where XX is again the patch number).

Knowing this, the only thing I could achieve was to "concatenate" the 32
individual sysex (1 for each patch) in a 4 big sysex (1 for each bank). This
way, at least I can load into the CZ5000 (not save to computer) the complete
banks in one operation.

It is basically a question of copy&paste, but it worked for me. Of course,
if you change one patch in the CZ5000, you have to save it and copy&paste
again in its correponding the "big sysex".

It is not nice, but I just really wanted a backup dump, as I am not
programming new sounds normally.

I did the tedious copy&paste operation directly with Midi-Ox, that probably
is not the better program for that, but I do not know too much about editing
sysex files.

Hope it helps a little.

Alfons

Hello all, I have a CZ-3000 and I wanted to know if I can dump the whole
bank instead of single patches. Is there a SYSex command that would allow me
to dump the whole sound bank and not just a single patch?
Thanks in advance
Mike
