Sending patches from Soundlib via Midiman Sport 1 Channel

2002-03-02 by garyt82148

HI,
I have a CZ5000 that I recently bought off EBAY. It's in Near-Mint
condition, like a Rip Van Winkle synth that slept through 16 years
with nobody playing it (complete with Casio metal-reinforced
case)...Anyway, as for patches, I rely on those found in the CZ Series
Starter Kit. I also have a CZ1000 (which I plan to put up for bid)
before the CZ5000. Transferring patches from Soundlib via Midiman was
easy with the CZ1000: I had a handwritten list of the patches I liked
from the 2750 found on the Starter Kit floppy. All I had to do was
find the one or two patches I liked in the banks, press "Test" and
send it to the CZ1000 memory or cartridge 1 - 16 possibilities. I
find that I can't do that with the CZ5000. When I send a test patch to
the CZ5000 I press and hold down "Write", then press "A" of memory,
then "1" it says "Write OK" but it lies--the patch is NOT stored.
What am I doing wrong? The 3 AA's are good, too. Was I using Soundlib
incorrectly from the start? Would it be better to store ALL the 2750
patches to the Library and then choose the ones I really want, create
new banks from them, and then "midiman" them to the casio? Has
anybody had a similar problem? Should I email the guy who sold me the
CZ Series Starter Kit? I've emailed him several times. In fact, he
told me to put some fresh batteries in the CZ1000, but the previous
owner had REMOVED (!!) one side of the + or - side to go on a fishing
expedition into the innards of this CZ1000--one of those
www.sonicstate.com fishermen. I had not been aware that the C or D
batteries aided in storing the patches!!!
Anyway...any ideas? Thanks Oh Troy, you might give the CZ Series
Starter Kit a try on EBAY
