This technique has some limitations: - can be used only in non legato music, where notes are not overlapping. Chords are possible. - PC must be send slightly before note. Ideally during pause. - Some synthesizers need some time to change the program so there can be some delay after PC message. - PC will abruptly stop sounding previous note on most synthesizers. Release part of envelope will probably not sound until the end. - on synthesizers with effect processors PC will mute the effect and needs more time to be done.
