Although I'm sad another one of these great synths has given up the ghost I'm glad I may have saved you some time troubleshooting the beast. Along with helping you out you've added to my knowledgebase for these synths. I had a Roland D-5 that was 4 ohms from 5 volts to ground accross the cpu. It even took out part of the power supply. You could try pulling the VCC leg of the D7811 and see if the voltage comes up and the D933 cools down but I doubt it will help. Then you would have to replace the cpu anyway. The uPD933AC is a tough chip to find any info on. Like you said a donor board is the only hope for replacement. I was able to use a CZ101 donor to fix a CZ5000 so they're all compatible except for the CZ-1.
