The MC202 uses a totally different display to the CZ1000 etc. which uses a fairly standard HD44780-type dot matrix display. However, the MC202 display is pretty similar to the LCD on my Yaesu FT290 which is lit from the side. Originally a "grain of wheat" bulb was used but now I use a 3mm LED since the bulb had blown. If you look around for details of how to do the LED backlight mod to the FT290 you may be able to adapt this to the MC202. -- Gordon MM0YEQ
