Re: [CZsynth] RA3 Cartridge Battery

You are correct. The 101, when new, held internal patches. After time they'd get scrambled requiring a push of the button. Now, it seems like it won't hold them at all. I'll have to go in and see how to remedy that.

Subject: Re: [CZsynth] RA3 Cartridge Battery

The CZ 101/ 1000 do not have memory back up batteries on their mother
boards, hence them losing their memory when the keyboard is switched off. I
swear when I first got my 101 back in 1990, when it was about 5 - 6 years
old, it WOULD hold it's patches when switched off. I think there is some
kind of capacitor on the motherboard that can hold a charge after it has
been connected for a while. However, over 25 years later I think it's no
longer able to hold any charge for long :-(

The CZ3000/ 5000 take AA batteries on their underside to backup the memory.

The CZ1 doesn't have provisions for AA batteries on its underside, so I do
believe it has an internal battery/ batteries somewhere inside the casing/
on the mother board.

Hope this helps!
