hi saso and all, > An FM synth? That's interesting... Does it sound like Yamaha's DX- > series, or does it really have a sound of its own? i use all three - tx, cz, and vz. they sound quite different. IMHO the vz lies between vz and cz. it has neither the crunchy sounds the tx is apt to produce nor the 'plastic' sounds characteristic for the cz. > And as I understand, the CZ-series is quite unique sound wise...by > the way, which one is better for drum and percussion sounds, the CZ > or the VZ? aargh - none. cymbals are atrocious. woodblocks are reasonable, as was mentioned before. the cz-1 has a quite nice simmons drum preset, but that's it. the vz does no better. > Would it be a good idea to replace my CZ-3000 with the CZ-1 which I'd > use as a MIDI controller, as well? yes, definitely, because the cz-1 has both velocity and channel aftertouch. true, pitchbend and mod wheel are not affected by local off, but that is a minor disadvantage. BTW: i have no problem with the cz-1 keyboard, even with the higher velocities. i like it. hellmuth
