Casio CZ/ VZ/ FZ - Pro Series

Pete, I'm glad that has helped.  

I recently bought a no-name USB-MIDI for a few pounds, for use with an iPad.  Tested it with MIDI data in and out, monitoring the codes received by the iPad and sent by it to a PC. Any sysex messages, either way, were converted into a bizarre set of note/controller info that was nowhere near the original sysex message. 

Lesson learned - always try to use decent MIDI interfaces!
