Presuming that the cz1 features a normal 16x2 lcd which it appears that it does, I have a guide to replacing cz displays at: http://templarseries.atspace.com/cz.html This is for replacing the whole display with a new backlit one, as opposed to replacing the backlight (which is not your problem anyhow).
