I took " I purchased the CZ-1 so I could get my fingers on a polyphonic synth" to mean an a hardware synth, not the Virtual CZ; but you might be right.

As for the buttons, the VZ-8m and VZ-1 are totally different so I can't test anything. I don't have any submenu up/down buttons. I suppose page changes might work via sysex, but first I'd suggest trying the online VZ editor we discussed a few months ago (IIRC).
