Cz-Midi and Windows midi driver

Cz-Midi and Windows midi driver

2002-11-06 by Daniel Krüger

Hi (fish)!

Is there anyone who uses a Windows version of Sounddiver to edit the CZ?
Since I got midi communication problems with my CZ 1 and Sounddiver 3.04, I asked an Emagic
programmer about those problems, and he told me that the CZ midi handshake format (not every request ends with F7) is incompatible to Windows because the Microsoft OS processes midi data in blocks and not each single byte!
Does anyone know more about this issue?? I dont want to work on an atari !!!
Daniel

Sort of, I am using a CZ101, it seems to work fine. The one thing I did have to do was set both send and receive to the same channel. Make sure the CZ is set to ENA for MIDI sysex, if I recall correctly. Unfortunately I don't know if the CZ1 is all that different, but I believe it is supposed to work.

The Emagic programmer is technically right about the handshake but
practically wrong. According to Casio documentation there is a break in the
transmission of the data but this can effectively be ignored and everything
will still work. Sounds like the author of the CZ101 module figured this out
but the CZ1 programmer didn't. I had the same problem with Unisyn and had to
tweak the CZ modules to work with that app.
