Hi! I recently purchased a Casio CZ-1000, and it seems to be out of tune by one whole step... so when I press down on C, I get a D instead... I attempted to press the master tune up button, but it doesn't move up the tune up. Is there another key that I can press down to get the tune back to normal? Thanks:) -Steve Salevan thesteve04@...

Try pressing down both tuning buttons at the same time. This should
re-center the pitch.

OK... I tried that and the pitch changed, but now it's playing a G instead of a C.... any other ideas? -Steve Salevan thesteve04@... on 8/2/03 11:27 PM, Scott Carr at scott@... wrote: Try pressing down both tuning buttons at the same time. You may need to press both buttons simultaneously a few times to get it to rest to A=442Hz (the default on all CZs). What you really need to do is bend a paper clip and push in the reset button on the underside on the synth. Do this with the power on. When you've pressed it, all the LEDs on the front panel will flash until you "un" press it.

This may work on the CZ- 1000. (You may have tried some of these.) (1) If the CZ-1000 has a key transpose button, set it to whatever value makes C = C. (2) If there is no button or the button doesn't work, try sysex: F0 44 00 00 7n 41 dd F7 where n = basic channel - 1 and for dd 45 = G 44 = Ab 43 = A 42 = Bb 41 = B 00 = C 01 = C# 02 = D 03 = Eb 04 = E 05 = F 06 = F# (correct transpose key listed above; guidebook has typos, eg 41 = B# !!) For example, if keyboard C plays G, transpose up perfect 4th (since you can't transpose down a perfect 5th), base channel = 1: F0 44 00 00 70 41 05 F7 OR, perhaps F0 44 00 00 70 41 00 F7 will reset it to C = C. Hope this helps. Let me know. Dr. Steve
