Casio CZ/ VZ/ FZ - Pro Series

I decided to be brave (or stupid) and open up my Casio CZ 101 today.

I know that there are two cables near the cartridge slot.  I noticed one was not 
attached to where it appeared to be previously attached.  I'm not good at soldering, 
but I know someone who is.

I was able to move the other cable, which had previously obstructed my cartridge 
slot, out of the way.

Could this be my problem?  Or is that cable supposed to be unattached on one end?

For those of you who may not be familiar with my CZ 101's problem, I cannot access 
tones 9 - 16.
